To forget you is like
A dance on knives;
The deep wounds there after.
Wide open and sore.
A release from my mind
Is not a hunger I yearn.
You away from my thoughts
Only traps the sadness that lingers.
The shadowy figures your
Presence burns away.
Now they hold the keys and
I am trapped in anguish.
The pain is the warden.
I am its subject; its prisoner.
I hold on to the fading memories.
A secret love that will never be.
Discussion:
In the Poem Forgetting You, is about a someone having a hard time letting go of the memories of someone they loved. Our brains are like hard drives of a computer, no matter how we try to forget, our mind stores our memories somewhere subconsciously. One may think they have forgotten but it is always there in the darkest part of the mind.
